Tracking
You may ask what is tracking? According to AKC, "Dogs have a very keen sense of smell---1000 times stronger than humans. Dogs with the help of their noses are often used to find lost animals, people, animals, drugs, avalanche and disaster victims, and even to detect cancer. Tracking is a canine sport that demonstrates a dog's natural ability to recognize and follow a scent and it is the foundation of canine search and rescue work. Unlike obedience and rally trials, where dogs respond to the handlers commands, in tracking the dog is completely in charge, for only he knows how to use his nose to find and follow the track. For many, the greatest pleasure of tracking is the hours spent outside training and interacting with other dogs. The tracking community is know for its comoraderie and they all share in the excitement of a "pass" and athe disappointment of a "fail." For more
Therapy
Several Polish Lowland Sheepdogs have worked as therapy dogs and have brought great reward to both the PON and the owner. A well-trained, socialized PON will make a great therapist as there are really three requirements. A therapy dog must have 1. a great temperament 2. the abiltiy to tolerate other animals and 3. a desire to be with people. There is no question that the PON breed well trained meets all of these requirements. To learn more
